A reminder that Football New
Brunswick's Provincial U18 Football Spring League program starts on Monday
April 8th. Some of you have already registered, however; please see
the links below for the spring schedule.
About Spring League
Program:
This is the only spring league
football program for Varsity aged players born in 1996 & 1997 and it runs
April 8th through May 12th.
There will be three regional teams
formed this year (Fredericton / Moncton / Saint John), each team will play
three games and practice twice during the week. Sundays will be either a game
day or an additional practice.
The Fredericton Area team will be
primarily coached by the UNB Red Bombers coaches, with most practices at Scotia
Park South. The program is a development program for those student
athletes that want to improve their football skills and may want to play
football at University level following graduation.
2013 Provincial U18 Team
NB & Football Canada Cup:
Although the Spring League program
is a development program, FNB's Provincial U18 Team NB coaches will be inviting
selected players from each region to the U18 Team selection camp at Mt. A in
late May to compete for a spot on the 2013 Provincial U18 Team that will play
at the 2013 Football Canada Cup July 15-21 in Moncton.
The Varsity Kats had great
representation on 2012 Provincial Team and there were at least 12
Fredericton Area players that were selected for the final 40 man roster that
played at the 2012 Canada Cup in London, ON. It was a good mix of Jr and
Sr age players.
To date, 15 Sr players from the
2012 team will be playing CIS level football in the fall of 2013 and others have opted
to stay closer to home and will be playing for Red Bombers and Seawolves in the
fall.
